This Diaethria Neglecta (size 17) is adorned in UV-protected, anti-reflective Art Glass and Sterling Silver. Our local glass artisan and goldsmith spent hours crafting this piece, carefully adapting to the unique shape of this wing. As a result, no traditional casting molds were used - only handcrafted techniques. It is truly a labor of love and a one-of-a-kind piece of jewelry!

More about this beauty:
The Diaethria Neglecta butterfly flits through the rainforests of Central and South America, from Panama down to Bolivia, like it’s always running just a little bit late. Energetic and easily distracted, it rarely stays in one place for more than a few seconds: there’s always something else catching its eye. Still, it has its soft spots. It often returns to the same familiar patch of ground, like someone who keeps coming back to their favorite quiet café corner.

These butterflies are usually seen in pairs or small groups - social, but not too crowded - and every now and then, they gather in larger numbers at favorite hangout spots. In a surprisingly cozy twist, they’re often drawn to man-made campfires. Maybe even butterflies like a bit of warmth and atmosphere now and then.

What truly sets Diaethria Neglecta apart is the striking pattern on the underside of its hindwings: a near-perfect ’88’, and occasionally even an ’89’. This number-like infinity marking isn’t just beautiful, it’s personal. Each one is slightly different, like a fingerprint: a quiet reminder that even in nature, no two individuals are exactly the same.

Sourcing:
All the butterflies we work with have been sourced and prepared with the utmost care and responsibility. They have lived their full lifespan and passed naturally. Learn more here.

Important note:
Make sure your jewelry stays completely dry. Water can seep beneath the glass and cause serious damage to the butterfly wing inside. This may result in moisture build-up or visible condensation, which can harm the organic material and accelerate deterioration. Keeping your piece dry is essential to preserving its natural beauty.
