An extraordinary silk moth native to Madagascar, a place where 70 million years of isolation gave the evolution of nature free rein to get wonderfully weird. And the Bullseye is a perfect example of that.
With its rich colors and bold patterns, this moth knows how to make an entrance. She has a large, dramatic eyespot on each hindwing, like a pair of watchful eyes peeking out from behind a curtain. What makes it even more fascinating is its party trick: it can move its hindwings separately from its forewings, flashing her "eyes" in a rocking motion: something that startles predators from attacking them.
