More about this beauty:
The Morpho Adonis is one of those butterflies that seems too magical to be real. Named after the mythological figure Adonis, the lover of Aphrodite and a symbol of beauty, youth, death, and rebirth, this butterfly carries a kind of ancient poetry on its wings.
Its name, Morpho, comes from the Greek word for “shapely one,” a title once reserved for Aphrodite herself, the goddess of beauty and love. And honestly, it lives up to the name. Native to the rainforests of Peru, this butterfly wears a blue so vivid it seems lit from within. It isn’t just color: it’s light and movement combined. Thousands of diamond-shaped scales in its wing scatter the light in such a way that the wings shimmer like a living jewel.
But this beauty comes with a clever trick. The underside of its wings is a soft, earthy brown, patterned with watchful eyespots. When in flight, the Morpho flashes between brilliant blue and quiet brown, making it seem as though it’s appearing and disappearing with every beat of its wings.
Sourcing:
All the butterflies we work with have been sourced and prepared with the utmost care and responsibility. They have lived their full lifespan and passed naturally. Learn more here.
Important note:
Make sure your jewelry stays completely dry. Water can seep beneath the glass and cause serious damage to the butterfly wing inside. This may result in moisture build-up or visible condensation, which can harm the organic material and accelerate deterioration. Keeping your piece dry is essential to preserving its natural beauty.
